We will be making a video presentation on Uses of Plants in the Environment.

In your video, please provide information and examples on the following:


Plants for Food:
a) 75% of food is based on seven major crops. What are these major crops (include pictures of what they look like and examples of what they are used for)
b) Choose two processed foods (foods that are prepared) and give us a breakdown to explain where the food came from. Include pictures of the plants it contains (when they are alive and during the different stages of processing)

Plants for Fibre:
a) Plants also provide fibre, which is the tissue from stems, leaves, seeds and roots. Give examples of plants that people use for fibre (and include pictures or video clips).
b) Explain how humans process a plant to use its fibre (picture and an explanation or a short video clip)
c) Choose a plant used for fibre and explain some of it's characteristics and benefits

Plants for Medicine:
a) Many medicines are made from ingredients from plants. Herbal remedies are a common example of how plants are used to prevent illnesses. Research 3 plants that are used to treat illnesses (include photos are an explanation of what they treat)

Plants for Transportation:
a) Plants such as wood and rubber have been used for transportation in both ancient times and modern times. Research how rubber is made from plants. Explain how wood has been used for transportation.

Plants for Fuel:
a) Give three examples of how plants create fuel for humans to use (include pictures and an explanation of how the plant becomes or is used for fuel).


Together as a class, we are going to create a rubric for your videos.
